GM Walking and Wheeling Fund

Aims/priorities: This fund aims to improve the health and well-being of communities across Greater Manchester by encouraging people who are usually less active to start or increase the amount they regularly walk or wheel during the colder months. 

Priority will be given to projects targeting the following groups:

  • People on a lower/no income.
  • Disabled people and those with long-term health conditions.
  • Older adults, particularly people aged 75+.
  • Black and Asian adults, and particularly people of Muslim faith.
  • Women, and particularly people who are pregnant and/or have a child or children under one year old.

Who can apply? Applications will be accepted from:

  • Constituted voluntary, community or social enterprise (VCSE) sector organisations operating in Greater Manchester for the benefit of Greater Manchester residents (including Glossop).
  • Community interest companies if they have a minimum of three directors, a membership lock and an asset lock with a specified organisation named.
  • Companies that are limited by guarantee with a minimum of three directors, a not-for-profit clause, a director remuneration clause, and a clause stating that assets will be distributed to another not-for-profit organisation fulfilling similar objects if they dissolve.

Grant amounts:

  • Small grants of up to £2,000 for groups with an annual turnover of less than £10,000.
  • Medium grants of up to £7,000 for groups with an annual turnover of over £10,000.
