Food for Life Get Togethers – Small Grants

funding update

Aims/priorities: The Food for Life Get Togethers Small Grants scheme is provided with funding by the National Lottery Community Fund and administered by the Soil Association. The funding is intended for gatherings and events that connect different age groups together and represent diverse communities.

There is a particular focus on awarding grants to groups and organisations in the Food for Life Get Togethers ‘test and learn regions’ who may experience social and economic disadvantage.  Applications are currently being accepted from the Rochdale area.

The funding is to help groups host a good food Get Together in their community that bring people of different backgrounds and/or ages together to strengthen and connect communities through one or more of food growing, cooking and food sharing.

The funding is for food-based community projects that are virtual or take place online:

  • Have potential to be long term.
  • Are community led.
  • Include people from disadvantaged and diverse communities.
  • Bring people together.
  • Reduce experience of loneliness or social isolation.
  • Encourage a positive attitude to ageing and diversity.

The funding can be used either for activity costs (for example, seeds, transport, technology, food etc.) or equipment (for example, induction hobs, fridges, durable gardening tools, etc.).

Who can apply? Applications will be considered from not-for-profit settings including, but not limited to local community groups, nurseries, schools, care homes, community health and social care settings, housing associations, and charities.

Community groups must have a bank account in the group’s name.

Grant amount: Maximum Value: £ 150

Application process: The small grant application, guidance, terms and conditions, and the contact details for the regional teams can be found on the Soil Association website.
