Community Organiser- Freehold

The role

This role will be central to developing Action Together’s approach to organising in neighbourhoods, rooted in deep listening, relationship building, and supporting residents to organise around shared priorities, shifting power into the hands of local people.

The Community Organiser will play a key role in building community power in Freehold, a small and diverse estate of around 400 flats with over 45 languages spoken. You will work alongside local residents to grow solidarity, build their collective voice, and support action on issues that matter most to the community.

You will build strong, trusting relationships with local people, supporting the growth of community leadership and collective capacity to take action.

The role will also support Freehold residents to design an approach to participatory grant making that will place resources in community hands, while working with local VCFSE organisations and public sector partners to remove barriers, shift power, and enable long‑term community led change.

The ideal candidate

The ideal candidate will be someone who is passionate about social justice and committed to addressing the issues that matter most to local communities. They are a natural relationship builder who enjoys connecting with people, developing trusted networks, and bringing together residents and organisations around shared goals. They are also a practical, proactive problem solver with a creative approach, able to motivate and support people to take action, strengthen their voice, and create positive change in their communities.
