• Craft work at The Growth Project Rochdale

We take anyone throughout the borough who is referred through Mind as long as the person is physically able to make large craft structures in a outside horticultural setting. We make Christmas decorations and wreaths and are setting up a craft work area so there are opportunities to be involved on the decisions on what to create. However, everyone also works on the site to keep it up to scratch horticulturally.

    Organisation Profile:

We are a partnership with Rochdale and District Mind who have been working at Kellett St Allotments for over 10 years working with people with mental health issues who grow and eat the vegetables produced on our site of over an acre. We are also part of Rochdale in Bloom and The national Garden Scheme. We take service users recommended via Mind to work on the allotments, who not only grow all the produce but have built the whole site including glass houses, a polytunnel, shelters, wood working environment and craft spaces. We are a not for profit organisation limited by guarantee, with 5 directors. Only one member of staff is paid one day a week all the rest of the work for the project is voluntary, we are currently partially funded through Rochdale public health and through our profit making organisation DistanceLearningCentre.com
