Cash For Kids - Holiday Hunger Grants

Aims/priorities: The aim of the Holiday Hunger Grants is to support organisations and service providers to give disadvantaged children and young people (up to and including 18 years old) access to food and activities during the school holidays. Projects must encourage children to eat more healthily and be more active during the school holidays.

Who can apply? Applications are accepted from the following organisations:

  • Registered charity (with an annual turnover less than £1 million).
  • School.
  • Community group, voluntary group, youth group or sports group with a formal governance document (e.g. constitution, articles of association, club rules and regulations).

Projects must focus on outcomes that encourage children to eat more healthily and be more active during the school holidays. 

Applicants must confirm:

  • The presence of a first aider on site.
  • Relevant insurances are in place.
  • Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)/Disclosure Scotland/Access NI enhanced clearance as required.

For the current call, applications are accepted for all areas except for East Yorkshire, Yorkshire Coast and Lincolnshire.

Grant amount: No minimum or maximum values are stated, but awards are usually between £1,000 and £3,000.

Application process: Applicants are advised to check the Cash for Kids website for updates as different regions have varying opening and closing dates.

Applications must be submitted online.

Submissions from community groups/charities must include the following:

  • A governance document, e.g., a constitution, articles of association, or club rules and regulations
  • Recent accounts or income/expenditure.
  • Breakdown of costs relating to the Holiday Hunger project.
  • A paying-in slip/statement for a bank account in the organisation's name.
  • A safeguarding policy.

For applications from schools, the following are required:

  • Breakdown of project costs.
  • Bank statement or paying-in slip.
  • The head teacher must be the first or second point of contact (or provide a letter authorising the application on headed paper).
  • Safeguarding policy (if not available on school website).

Deadline: The fund may close early if funds are depleted.
