The Ancora Project based in Oldham are celebrating today after being awarded £254,439 in funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest funder of community activity in the UK.

The Ancora Project supports people hitting crisis brought about by financial hardship and this funding will enable the project to continue their crisis intervention service with its partners, KeyRing, Oldham Foodbank and Christians Against Poverty.

This new National Lottery funding will enable Ancora to offer and deliver support to approximately 750 people each year, facing a diverse range of challenges that have led to hardship and crisis.

National Lottery players raise over £30 million a week for good causes across the UK. The National Lottery Community Fund distributes a share of this to projects to support people and communities to prosper and thrive.

Suzy Pabla, Ancora Project Manager said: “Thanks to National Lottery players, this grant means that we can continue with the work we have been involved with for the last 5 years. In 2019-20, we worked with 685 individuals and in 2020-21, 783. We helped to support, influence and connect with significantly more people than we ever envisaged. Supporting people to access, food parcels, fuel vouchers, clothing, school uniform and navigate a way out of crisis. Supporting people to sustain their homes and relationships in navigate a way out of crisis. Supporting people to sustain their homes and relationships in unprecedented times during the pandemic. We believe we have and will continue to make a big difference to people’s lives.”
