Altogether Community Cafe is a grassroots organisation based in Alt, Oldham Borough.
Local families expressed a need for accessible and engaging activities during the summer months and the existing HAF projects were inconveniently located, requiring significant travel time for families.
Altogether Community Cafe set out a list of objectives to ustilise their funding:
Create a series of summer activities tailored to the needs of local children and families.
Provide a convenient and accessible alternative to HAF projects.
Create a sense of community and support among local residents.
They conducted a survey to gather feedback from local families. From this, key areas of interest, including physical activity, arts and crafts, and social interaction were identified and a range of summer activities and trips for families to enjoy were developed.
The results from this included the summer activities program was a resounding success! Over 40 children and their families participated at events. The program provided a safe and enjoyable environment for children to socialise and learn new skills. Local families expressed gratitude for the convenient and accessible activities offered by Altogether. The program strengthened community bonds and created a sense of belonging among local residents.
Altogether Community Cafe also noticed additional benefits, the activities helped to keep children active and engaged during the summer months. The program provided opportunities for parents to connect with other families in the community.
