Our annual Staff Iftar has become one of the warmest moments in our Action Together calendar. Once again, we were delighted to bring our teams together to share food and connection this Ramadan.
Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, holds special significance for Muslims around the world. It is a month dedicated to fasting, charity and spiritual reflection.
We are proud to have such diverse staff and serve communities of many faiths and backgrounds, so hosting our annual Staff Iftar allows us to learn from each other and strengthen our shared sense of belonging.
This year’s Iftar was hosted at Positive Steps, with an open invitation to all staff. A number of colleagues even chose to take part in an optional fast, refraining from eating between sunrise at 6:47am (Sehri) and sunset at 5:54pm (Iftar). Their reflections later in the evening highlighted the resilience and mindfulness that fasting can inspire.
We were also thrilled to welcome the talented team from Fatima Women’s Association, who brought the celebration to life with beautiful henna art and a jewellery stall. A heartfelt thank you to the team for sharing their skills and joy with us.
Throughout the evening, staff from across the organisation shared stories, asked questions and reflected on each other’s experiences.
We broke the fast together with dates and water, followed by a delicious meal provided by Action Together.
