Tameside Adult Safeguarding Partnership would like to invite you to get involved in raising awareness of adult abuse during the week of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.
World Elder Abuse Awareness Day on Friday 15 June 2018 aims to raise awareness of adult abuse, how to recognise the signs and how to report it.
You can help within the local community to help highlight the day by embracing the purple theme and organising a fun activity with a serious message throughout the week.
There are all sorts of way people can get involved in World Elder Abuse Awareness Day and you can be as creative as you like.
Ideas include
- Wearing purple to work
- Baking purple cupcakes,
- Knitting purple items
- Planting up purple hanging baskets.
- Community groups and care homes could also organise a coffee morning with purple theme or host a purple tea party.
Tameside Adult Safeguarding Partnership has compiled a quiz with purpled theme questions. Click here to download the quiz.
The key part is to ensure your event also raises awareness of adult abuse and the message that it is should not be tolerated. Tameside Adult Safeguarding Partnership is launching new posters to raise awareness of adult abuse these are not specific to World Elder Abuse Awareness Day and can be displayed throughout the year. Click here to download further information leaflets.
If you would like copies of these sending out to you please get in touch.
Tameside Adult Safeguarding Partnership would love to know what you are planning and even if a member of the board could pop along and join in. Please email marie.hare@tameside.gov.uk to let us know. We would also love to see your photos and share on our website so send them in too!
We hope that you enjoy your event and raising awareness of adult abuse across Tameside.
