We are looking for additional temporary staff to join our play teams during Easter and Summer holiday periods. Positions are available working between 10-25 hours at our Moss Side, Ardwick and Wythenshawe adventure playgrounds and will be dependent on availability. Holiday staff will be required to work flexibly across multiple locations.
Holiday Club sessions are 12-4pm at all sites.
Daytime play sessions are 4-6pm when holiday sessions are not operating at the site.
If you’re passionate about making a difference to children and young people and have skills in creative or therapeutic arts, sports, play or other outdoor activities then we want to hear from you. We’re looking for team members who are innovative and creative, have lots of energy and a sense of fun, and also really important that you have the patience and tolerance required to work with 5–16-year-olds.
Place in organisation
The post holder will work as part of a team of staff providing both open access and targeted play and youth work activities for children and young people aged 5-14 years. This may involve work at a number of locations.
- Face to face work with children on play.
Main Task
- Assist in the preparation and running of play sessions and activities to provide a varied, safe, and stimulating environment in both indoor and outdoor settings.
- Assist in setting up activities and putting away resources at the end of the session.
- Take an active role in planning and developing a programme of activities that meets the needs of children.
- Use positive behaviour management strategies to promote positive behaviour and challenge negative behaviour appropriately.
- Promote inclusive activities for all and facilitate the positive integration of children with disabilities, behavioural difficulties, and/or additional needs.
- Establish positive relationships with all children, enabling them to increase their confidence and realize their full potential.
- Support and promote the participation of children in planning and decision making.
- Ensure that the play environments and outside areas are clean, safe, and secure and report defects where necessary.
- Provide information to parents/carers about services.
- Work cooperatively with other integrated projects supporting the development of other areas of work such as Junior Playworkers, or Early Intervention Workers and Young Volunteers
- Provide support and guidance to junior staff and volunteers.
- Maintain proper records, reports, and other relevant information.
- Work as an effective member of the team.
- Undertake general administrative duties including recording and filing of relevant forms such as session registers, registration forms for children.
- To participate in relevant meetings and training as required.
- Carry out all duties with full regard for all MYL policies and procedures, in particular those relating to equality, safeguarding, health, safety and security, confidentiality, and data protection, reporting any concerns to an appropriate person.
- To co-operate with all Manchester Young Lives staff in maintaining good relations with outside bodies and the public in order to uphold the organisation’s image.
- To promote a positive image of the play provision and the wider work of the organisation.
- To ensure that your conduct in and out of work does not conflict with the professional expectations of the organisation
- Carry out any other duties as are within the scope and purpose of the post as directed.
