Job: Energy Advice Worker

About Us

Caritas Diocese of Salford is the principal social action agency of the Catholic Diocese. Our mission is to put Love Into Action. We help those across Greater Manchester and Lancashire experiencing poverty, disadvantage, and discrimination to transform their lives with dignity. We provide a practical response to those in crisis, suffering hardship or who are at risk. We rebuild lives for the long-term, enabling people to live in a safe, healthy, and secure environment. We call for a better, more just world, where the voices of the poor are heard and acted upon and positively influence the systems, decisions and resources that affect those in need.

About the job

We require an experienced Energy Advice Worker to join our Caritas Energy Saving Service to provide energy information, advice and support to households experiencing fuel poverty in deprived communities of Greater Manchester so that they can:

  • Reduce energy consumption by employing energy-saving measures
  • Reduce the cost of energy bills through being on the right tariff etc
  • Improve mental and physical health and well-being by reducing the effects of fuel poverty

You will deliver one-to-one advice work information sessions and run advice drop-in surgeries in Caritas’ community services in Hulme, Bury and Collyhurst, as well as continued one-to-one advice support for people in the area.

You must be able to work independently and proactively using your own initiative to make appropriate decisions for the most positive outcomes. Additionally, you will have knowledge of advice work, good IT and administration skills.

There will be an opportunity to secure a Level 3 City and Guild qualification in Energy Awareness, therefore a willingness to secure this will need to be demonstrated. Caritas will fund the training.
