Job: Community Crisis Supporter

Our peer led crisis service in Bury provides peer support and practical support, face to face or via telephone on a one-to-one or group basis for adults experiencing a mental health crisis in our community. The service started in 2021 and has received year on year funding increases due to the success we have had. We are expanding our service so we now have a vacancy for a new Crisis Supporter position within our team.

The Crisis Supporter position is an exciting opportunity to join our well respected metal health charity and help make a real difference to the lives of people in our community struggling with their mental health. You will work as part of a existing team and your day to day focus would be to support the individuals we see, either face to face or in an informal group setting.

We are looking to recruit someone with personal experience of mental distress as this is a peer role. The successful candidate will also have experience of working with people with mental health problems, which should include experience of working with people at risk of suicide and self-injury.

We are looking for a reflective individual with a demonstrable ability to build positive therapeutic relationships with adults experiencing mental health crisis. You will need to be able to communicate with visitors clearly and effectively using non-clinical language. You will need to have proven experience supporting adults with mental health conditions using recovery orientated approaches. You will need to be able to work effectively as part of a team, while being highly organised and planning and prioritising your work.

Job Details:

  • 30 hours a week
  • £28,210 FTE (£24,180 Actual)
  • Fixed term contract until end of March 2027, subject to extension dependent on future commissioning
  • Annual Leave Entitlement of 216 hours
  • Monthly Clinical Supervision and access to ongoing training opportunities paid by the organisation
