Digital Tech Library

A group of grassroots voluntary organisations, in collaboration with Action Together in Rochdale, formed a consortium to purchase digital equipment to tackle digital poverty and exclusion in Rochdale.

The Digital Tech Library received funding from Public Health and Rochdale Borough Housing to work in partnership with Rochdale Council’s library service to have digital devices for loan in the libraries, which enable people to access free wi-fi and support to get online.

Living Well has Digital Champion volunteers to help people get online. HMR Circle’s Digital Project Coordinator works with older people in independent living schemes to offer one-to-one support. Disability Forum and RADDAG offers support for people who are disabled through their peer support project.

The Digital Tech Library organises repair workshops to repair digital devices (laptops, printers, games consoles and mobile phones) that have kindly been donated. The workshops are held in community venues and facilitated by Heritage Hackers who support people to fix, make and re-use things.
