#WednesdaysWeekly - Mayoral Development Corporation in Oldham

Join us to find out more about a current consultation about establishing a 'Mayoral Development Corportation' to support and accelerate regeneration across key parts of Oldham, including the Town Centre, SportsTown and Northern Roots.

We would like to invite you to a session with Matt Bulmer, Project Director for SportsTown and Northern Roots at Oldham Council, to discuss the current consultation on the proposed Oldham Mayoral Development Corporation (MDC).

Oldham Council and Greater Manchester Combined Authority are currently consulting on the proposal to establish an MDC to support and accelerate regeneration across key parts of Oldham, including the Town Centre, SportsTown and Northern Roots.

The session will be an opportunity for voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise organisations to:

  • hear more about what the proposed MDC is and what it could do;
  • understand how the proposal relates to Oldham’s wider regeneration ambitions;
  • discuss what this could mean for communities, residents and local organisations;
  • share views on the opportunities, risks and issues that should be considered; and
  • help ensure that community voices are reflected as part of the consultation.

The MDC proposal covers areas and themes that are directly relevant to the CVS sector, including community life, health and wellbeing, green space, culture, volunteering, social value, skills, jobs, inclusion, access and how regeneration can benefit local people.

The consultation is live and runs until 1 July 2026. You can view the consultation materials here: https://www.gmconsult.org/development/oldham-mdc/

We would really welcome your input and encourage organisations to attend, contribute to the discussion and consider submitting a formal response to the consultation.
