Ending Violence against Women and Girls Workshop – Engaging the Private Sector

Rochdale Council and Action Together are working in partnership to develop a bespoke plan for Rochdale Borough to end violence against women and girls (VAWG). This work is both timely and aligned with the national “Freedom from Harm” strategy and the Greater Manchester gender-based violence strategy.

As a borough, the safety of women and girls is everyone’s priority. It is not solely a public sector issue—we all have a role to play, and the impacts are felt across our communities, workplaces, and wider economy. The private and business sector is therefore a crucial partner in helping to prevent harm, support those affected, and create safer environments for all.

Our approach seeks to address urgent priority issues alongside longer-term prevention, underpinned by stronger cross-sector relationships, shared learning, and a collective commitment to change.

We have already held two successful Non-Domestic Abuse VAWG workshops with Safer Communities partners and colleagues across health and care. We would now like to extend this conversation to include private business and economy partners, recognising the valuable insight, influence, and reach this sector brings.

This session will provide an opportunity to:

  • Share knowledge, insight, and experiences

  • Explore how businesses can contribute to tackling VAWG in Rochdale

  • Help shape local priorities and actions around non-domestic abuse VAWG

  • Strengthen partnerships and our collective response

Further details, including location and agenda, will follow shortly.
