The main purpose of this role is to support sanctuary-seeking women to build confidence, practise English, and connect with nature through gentle gardening activities. This group focuses on growing flowers for pollinators, improving biodiversity, and helping to beautify the Wildbrook Community Food & Growing Hub as a welcoming and colourful space for the whole community.
As part of the wider Grow Your Roots project, these sessions encourage women to learn together, share skills, and build friendships while contributing to a community space that supports wellbeing, environmental awareness, and local wildlife. Volunteers in this group help create pollinator-friendly areas, plant and care for flowers, and improve the appearance of pathways and borders.
This role is essential in helping sanctuary seekers feel part of the community, learn English through practical activities, and take pride in improving a shared outdoor space that benefits local residents, insects, and the environment. We welcome any woman interested in gardening, learning English, meeting friends, and helping us make the site bloom.
