As a Money & Debt Support Volunteer, you will offer a calm, supportive space to help survivors talk through their financial worries. While we refer all complex debt issues to specialist agencies, you’ll play a key role in holding the first conversation, helping survivors understand their financial situation, complete basic forms, and draft simple budgets.

- Volunteer: Weekly, Fortnightly
- Tasks: ● Supporting survivors to talk through their financial concerns in a non-judgmental way.
● Helping to gather and organise financial information such as bills, benefit statements, and debts.
● Assisting with basic budgeting and money management tools.
● Helping complete referral forms for debt advice agencies and financial support services.
● Encouraging and empowering survivors to take the next steps toward financial stability.
● Keeping accurate, confidential records of support provided.
● Liaising with Soul Sisters staff to ensure follow-up and safeguarding procedures are in place. - Training: ● Free Training: Intro to budgeting tools, referral pathways, and trauma-informed financial conversations.
● Mentor Support: Regular check-ins and guidance from experienced staff.
● Reference: Provided after 12 months of consistent volunteering.
● Certificate: A certificate of appreciation upon completing an agreed number of volunteer hours.
● Expenses Paid: Travel costs and a small subsidy to support your role. - Requirements: Willing to travel by public transport or find own way to volunteering location
- Skill And Qualifications Required: ● Experience or confidence in discussing budgeting, debt, or financial matters.
● Patience, empathy, and a calm, reassuring approach.
● Strong listening and communication skills.
● Basic IT skills (e.g., using spreadsheets or online forms).
● Good attention to detail and a methodical way of working.
● Respect for confidentiality and sensitivity to the challenges faced by survivors.
