Volunteer Recruitment for Rochdale Science Extravaganza
We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join us for the Rochdale Science Extravaganza on Sunday 29 June 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a community-driven event that celebrates Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM).
Purpose of the Role:
• Engage and Inspire: Help facilitate interactive exhibits and hands-on activities, inspiring curiosity and a love for STEAM among attendees of all ages.
• Support Inclusivity: Assist in making the event accessible and welcoming for everyone, including underserved communities and the SEND community.
• Community Building: Collaborate with educators, artists, and scientists to create a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere, fostering connections within the community.
• Event Facilitation: Provide logistical support to ensure the event runs smoothly, from setting up displays to guiding visitors.

- Tasks: Volunteer Tasks for Rochdale Science Extravaganza:
1. Set-Up and Take-Down:
• Assist with setting up exhibits, tables, and activity stations before the event.
• Help dismantle and pack away materials after the event concludes.
2. Welcoming Attendees:
• Greet visitors as they arrive and provide them with event information and schedules.
• Direct attendees to different areas of the event.
3. Facilitating Activities:
• Support presenters with hands-on STEAM activities and demonstrations, ensuring they run smoothly.
• Engage with participants, encouraging their involvement and answering questions.
4. Crowd Management:
• Monitor the flow of attendees to prevent overcrowding and ensure a safe environment.
• Assist in maintaining orderly queues at popular exhibits or activities.
5. Accessibility Support:
• Provide assistance to attendees with special needs to ensure inclusivity.
• Work with the team to make the event accessible for the SEND community.
6. Feedback Collection:
• Distribute and collect feedback forms from attendees.
• Engage in brief conversations to gather informal feedback about their experience.
7. General Support:
• Be available to help with any unforeseen tasks or issues that arise during the event.
• Collaborate with other volunteers and staff to ensure the event's success. - Training: Volunteer Training for Rochdale Science Extravaganza:
We are committed to ensuring our volunteers feel prepared and confident in their roles. Here’s what we offer:
Introductory Session:
• Scheduled for the beginning of May, this session will provide an overview of the event, volunteer roles, and responsibilities.
Follow-Up Session:
• Two weeks before the event, we’ll conduct a detailed walkthrough, addressing any questions and final preparations.
These sessions will equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to make the event a success. Your participation is crucial, and we’re excited to have you on board! - Requirements: Willing to travel by public transport or find own way to volunteering location
