Job: GMAVSG Coordinator

GMAVSG provides advice on benefits and compensation for people with asbestos diseases, campaigns for better benefits and compensation, and organises two support groups for people who have lost a loved one to an asbestos disease and for people with mesothelioma.  The Coordinator oversees this work and line manages two other workers.

The Coordinator’s duties include:

  1. Organising the phone helpline and visits to people suffering from asbestos-related illnesses, primarily around benefits and compensation.  This includes referring to and liaising with appropriate external agencies, ensuring that databases of clients and case files are maintained.
  2. Maintaining the panel of solicitors
  3. Line managing the two other GMAVSG workers
  4. Organising the GMAVSG Board of Trustee meetings
  5. Promoting and organising GMAVSG support group meetings
  6. Campaigning on asbestos issues.  This includes making presentations about the work of GMAVSG, organising and participating in events and demonstrations, media work, active involvement at relevant meetings and committees.
  7. Organisational management including administration, health and safety and financial responsibilities.
  8. Liaison with the GMHC Coordinators to cooperate on mutual aspects of the work on occupational health and safety.
