Job Description

Here at 42nd Street, we are a values-led charity committed to improving the emotional wellbeing and mental health of young people. We work in anti-oppressive, trauma-informed and inclusive ways, ensuring our services are accessible to young people who experience marginalisation and exclusion.

We are excited to be recruiting a Finance Officer to join our Finance Team and play a key role in supporting the charity’s financial management, sustainability and internal financial systems. Working as part of the wider Operations Team, this role is central to ensuring our resources are managed transparently, responsibly and in line with Charity Law, Charity SORP and funder requirements.

The Finance Officer will work closely with the Finance Manager, Chief Executive and Senior Leaders to provide accurate, timely financial information that supports effective decision-making and high-quality service delivery. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with solid finance experience who is looking to develop further within a supportive, mission-driven organisation.

The Finance Officer will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the development, monitoring and review of organisational and project budgets
  • Day-to-day financial processing, including purchase ledger, sales ledger and income tracking
  • Maintaining accurate financial records and supporting robust financial systems and controls
  • Supporting funder reporting, audits and year-end accounts
  • Providing clear financial information to non-financial colleagues
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of finance systems and procedures

Apply if you can offer:

  • At least 2 years’ experience in a finance role
  • A qualification in, or working towards, AAT Level 3 or above
  • Strong numerical, analytical and IT skills (including Excel and accounting software)
  • Experience of maintaining accurate financial records and supporting reporting processes
  • The ability to communicate financial information clearly and confidently
  • A commitment to equality, anti-oppressive practice and values-led working

Experience in the not-for-profit or charity sector and use of accounting software such as QuickBooks would be an advantage.
