The Witness Service provides practical and emotional support and information to witnesses so that they feel valued, respected and informed and able to give their best evidence in court.
The role involves providing support to witnesses, and their supporters, by explaining the court procedures and legal terminology, showing them around the courtroom before trial and sitting in the courtroom with them,
when permitted.

- Tasks: - Advocacy
- Liaising with other court stakeholders including Ushers, Crown prosecution Service and defence solicitors.
- Completing basic paperwork
- Providing emotional and practical support to witnesses - Training: - Completion of online learning
- Shadowing experienced volunteers in court (Approximately 3 months towards accreditation)
- Ongoing refresher training.
Above training includes but not limited to - Data Protection Training, Safeguarding, Equity, Diversity & inclusion & Supporting vulnerable and intimidated witnesses. - Requirements: Willing to travel by public transport or find own way to volunteering location
- Interests: Crime, Domestic violence, Emergency services, Justice, Legal, Victim support
- Activities: Administration, Lending a helping hand, Mentoring, Providing advice
- DBS Check: Yes
