CONTACT Speech and Language Virtual Workshops for Secondary School Aged Children

CONTACT in partnership with ICAN have a Speech and Language workshops for parents of children at secondary school on the following date:

  • 8th December 10am - 12 noon

If your child has speech issues related to autism, language impairment, hearing impairment or another disability, make sure to book your place for free.  You'll learn about the communication chain, how you can support them, key strategies and developing a common approach.

These workshops are delivered in partnership with ICAN and an expert Speech and Language Therapist.

Magic Little Grants

With only a week left to submit an application, Localgiving is urging charities and community groups that are either in their first year of operation or have an annual income under £250,000 to apply for a grant of £500. There is particular interest in applications from Scotland and Wales.

The funding will support projects that address this year’s themes:

The Linnean Society – Our Local Nature Grants

Aims/priorities: The scheme provides grants to support innovative projects, designed and led by young people in the UK, which aim to increase access to local natural spaces and encourage a deeper appreciation and understanding of nature.

Funding is intended for projects which affect change or empower local young people and the surrounding communities to increase access to natural spaces and improve understanding of the local biodiversity.

Examples of eligible projects are as follows:

Ansvar Donations Programme

Aims/priorities: Funding must be used for the promotion of healthy lifestyles to children and young people. This may include activities which:

  • Educate on the effects on drugs and alcohol.
  • Promote responsible and safe choices.
  • Promote exercise, mental wellbeing or healthy eating.

Grants should cover a specific project. This can either be a new project or to take an existing project to a new level, or to bring a creative new idea into fruition.

The funding is for projects that run from January 2022 to December 2024.

Greater Manchester's Ten Tips for Talking

The GM10 Tips for Talking are 10 key messages to support families’ and practitioner’s understanding, of the importance of talking to young children from an early stage.
 
The Tips can be used by any practitioners who work with families of young children, midwives, to early help workers and early years practitioners, and can be used individually or as a full set of resources. They are part of a range of resources developed to support the GM Early Speech, Language and Communication pathway which is being implemented by all of the 10 Greater Manchester Local Authorities.

Didymus Fund

Aims/priorities: The aim of this fund is to support smaller charities who are working in the areas of social inclusion, education, the arts, equality and diversity, and religious understanding. The fund will enable charities to run projects and initiatives that build hope and enrichment of life for people who have been disadvantaged for whatever reason. 

The funding is for projects that fulfil at least one of the following goals:

Veterans' Foundation

Aims/priorities: The aim of the Foundation is to help charities and other organisations that support serving and former members of the British Armed Forces, and sometimes their dependants, who are in need.

The funding can be used for projects covering a range of aspects of social care for the Armed Forces community, including but not limited to:

Malnutrition Awareness week 2021

Please help them raise awareness on the important subject of malnutrition in older age. This is something that unfortunately affects 1 in 10 older people in the UK and the figure is likely to be higher now due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
