Please help them raise awareness on the important subject of malnutrition in older age. This is something that unfortunately affects 1 in 10 older people in the UK and the figure is likely to be higher now due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

They have listed below many different ways you can get involved and make a difference during Malnutrition Awareness week. We hope you will be inspired!

Resources

Download any of their FREE resources on Nutrition and Hydration in older age here:

Malnutrition Awareness Week 2021 (ageuk.org.uk)

Take a look at the challenge calendar, top tips for eating well and malnutrition myths.

Team meetings

Please save a spot on your agenda for Nutrition and Hydration during this week! We have prepared a short Powerpoint Presentation together with a script that you can use to raise awareness of the importance of Nutrition and Hydration amongst your staff. You can download the presentation (with the script) on our website. Also why not use the background slide here for your virtual meetings to get everyone talking?

During Malnutrition Awareness Week, all teams working with older people are asked to review their processes for identifying, if someone is at risk of malnutrition and addressing this with them / their families.

Social media

You can download their social media pack and start posting today! The pack has ready to post text, hashtags and images. You can find the pack on our website.

Newsletters

On their website, you can download a newsletter and send out to your contacts. They have prepared one for general public and one for professionals and carers.

If you are publishing a newsletter for members of the workforce who work with older people or a newsletter for older people themselves, please include some of the messages from our suggested newsletter inserts.
