First Choice Homes is launching a campaign to encourage Greater Manchester residents to learn skills for life through the funded Multiply course. The team is offering a 1-day course designed to help those who want to improve their maths/numeracy ability and give their career prospects a boost. Multiply is open to GM residents aged 19yr +, providing they do not have a Maths qualification at GCSE C/Grade 4 or Functional Skills Level 2. Participants don’t have to be an FCHO customer. Travel expenses will be reimbursed, and lunch provided.

Nadia Hussain, our Employment Support Advisor who is delivering the course, says: “We know that for some people, maths can be scary and the Multiply course is designed to help overcome this and support adults to use maths and numbers more effectively in daily life, at home and work. The Content will give them a hand with everyday tasks from shopping, managing bills and budgeting, to helping the kids with their homework, improving their potential at work and much, much more. These skills can really help make a difference to people’s lives and, if they wish, set them on the path to attaining a formal qualification which can open doors to new jobs, career progression and/or further study.”

Chloe is among those who has already signed up to the Multiply course and says it will help her progress in her chosen field; “Multiply will build and refresh my confidence in using basic maths in daily life. I want to enrol onto a Level 2 Engineering course but need a Level 2 in Maths. Nadia at FCHO will support me to register with a local provider to achieve this.”
