We are working with a group of organisations called the Food Solutions Network, and have opened a Community Warehouse which is being stocked with supplies. The supplies will help our boroughs charities and community groups, support people who are struggling.

The warehouse is stocked with food and resources, which are then redistributed via foodbanks, food pantries and other charities across the Rochdale Borough.  The warehouse is managed by Action Together and a team of volunteers and will support the 22+ voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise organisations which form the Food Solutions Network.

In addition to the food and resources stock we are building, we wanted to have a stock of ‘Care Packs’ created by our communities.

To help this happen, we are offered £500 grants to groups who can make ‘Care Packs’ which have now began to help us stock the Community Warehouse!

We have currently funded 13 local charities and community groups with a total of £6,500 so far to create over 500 Care Packs which will be redistributed to support people who are struggling.

We have currently had a wide range of different types of Care Packs including:

  • Creative Arts packs
  • Science starter activity packs
  • Young people Mental Health comfort packs
  • Christmas packs
  • Culture celebration packs
  • Hygiene packs
  • Family activity packs
  • Kindness and wellbeing packs

The packs that have been created so far have been wonderful and will go a long way in supporting people in the local community who may be struggling.
