Here at Action Together, we strive to make our funding applications more flexible, open and transparent, creating the easiest possible experience for applicants.

As a result, Action Together are pleased to announce that we have become an open and trusted grant maker with IVAR. Becoming an open and trusted grant maker with IVAR means we will adopt more clear and transparent practices that make accessing funding easier for local charities and voluntary organisations. We want to distribute grants in a way that reflects the realities facing organisations now and for the foreseeable future, helping essential local organisations respond to the demands on their services.

IVAR have designed eight commitments to managing grants and relationships. Over 100 grant makers have signed up to the eight commitments:

  1. Don’t waste time
  2. Ask relevant questions
  3. Accept risk
  4. Act with urgency
  5. Be open
  6. Enable flexibility
  7. Communicate with purpose
  8. Be proportionate

Sharon McGladdery, Programmes Manager for Action Together said, ‘Our commitments reflect our confidence and respect for the organisations that we fund. Our grants processes will be more open and transparent, and this will enable us to build an open, supportive and trusting relationship with grant applicants who will feel confident in approaching us and discussing their ideas with us, and have honest and constructive discussions with us if their plans change.’
