Action Together is a Disability Confident Employer

At Action Together, our purpose is to enable positive social change and promote social justice. One of the ways we do this is by looking at our own ways of doing things to see how we can be a more equitable and inclusive organisation. By taking part in the Disability Confident scheme, we have been able to identify how we can make Action Together a better and more accessible workplace for disabled people.

Disability Confident is a Government scheme which was developed by employers and disabled people, and encourages employers to think differently about disability, taking action to improve how they recruit, retain, and develop disabled people.

As a Disability Confident Employer, we are able to demonstrate that we take concrete action to make Action Together an equitable workplace. Just some examples of this include:

  • Our Employee Assistance Programme, which provides free 24/7 counselling, covers the cost of several healthcare services, and offers video GP appointments
  • Our flexible working policy, which gives employees more freedom to work in the ways that best suits their needs
  • Our culture of discussing and embedding accessibility and equity into everything we do, and ensuring people in all roles work together to achieve this

But this isn’t the end of our Disability Confident journey! This year, we will be making some changes to our recruitment and induction processes, as well as working on making our new website as accessible as possible. We are hoping to achieve the highest level of the scheme, Disability Confident Leader, by the end of 2024.
