Please join us in congratulating our Rochdale-based member organisation, Become United, as they celebrate successfully achieving our Action Together 'Quality in Action Award'.

Speaking to them about their achievement they said;

"We decided to undertake the Quality in Action Award as we set up initially, and had started the process to become a charity. We wanted to grow and ensure we have good governance in place and the QiAA was the perfect approach for us.

The process was interesting ad we would like to thank Action Together for their continuous support. The support from AT and in particular the review and advice on processes/policies to help us improve them was what we found most useful.

We believe we are now in a position to apply for funding, stating we have the Quality in Action Award, which will give us an advantage, but also we are proud to say we have good governance in place."

Become United is a charity, led by Black Minority Ethnic (BME) people. Their advisory team members have a broad range of skills, experience and knowledge gained from working with the South Asian and BME communities across Greater Manchester for over 20 years.

The principal objective of Become United is to create a structurally safe place for all people. The organisation is committed to equality and has a focus on the inclusion and rights of people from different backgrounds and ethnicities.

Our Volunteer Support Officer, Laura Augustine, has supported Become United on their journey to achieving the Award and said;

"It has been an absolute pleasure supporting Become United through their Quality in Action Award. They have put so much time and hard work into making sure their policies and procedures are up to scratch. It's been great to see the improvements and I wish them all the best going forward!"

What is the Quality in Action Award?

The Quality in Action Award is a recognised framework for voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise (VCFSE) organisations working across Oldham, Rochdale and Tameside to prove their impact. The award is an independent, local seal of approval which publicly demonstrates commitment to safeguarding, quality assurance and continuous improvement.

How can my organisation apply for the Quality in Action Award?

You'll work alongside one of our dedicated Development Officers to meet criteria that ensures your organisation has the right things in place, with practical advice, resources and support to help you develop the policies and procedures that are right for you. The QiAA is free and open to groups of any size. By achieving the award you'll be able to demonstrate to local commissioners, funders, beneficiaries and other stakeholders that you are delivering quality activities and services.
