Football Foundation - Small Grants

Aims/priorities: Grants are available for purchasing equipment and items to enable grassroots football organisations in England to restart activities after the period of COVID-19 restrictions. The charity's aim is 'to transform lives and strengthen communities through the power of football'. The funding is intended for smaller capital projects and the maintenance/improvement of facilities. The following can be funded:

  • Ball retention systems.
  • Fencing.
  • Goalposts.
  • Minor works to changing rooms and club house refurbishment.
  • Pitch maintenance - contractor services.
  • Pitch maintenance - drainage.
  • Pitch maintenance - maintenance machinery.
  • Portable floodlights.
  • Storage containers.
  • Improvements to playing surfaces.

Who can apply? Applications are accepted from football clubs and community sports organisations providing men's football in England

As of 1 July 2023, we will only accept applications from people holding the role of either Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary or Treasurer of the club applying. This will be verified with the County FA during the assessment process and any applications submitted by people not in one of these roles will be withdrawn. 

Grant amount: Up to £25,000.

Application process: Applications must be made online via the Football Foundation's grants portal. Organisations must first create a user account and can then access the application guidance notes and the online application form.

Deadline: Applications may be made at any time, preferably not more than once per football season.
