Aims/priorities: Grants are available to local not-for-profit groups for projects which engage communities and create strong networks across the UK and have been voted for by the public.

The aim of the scheme is to allow National Lottery players to get a say in how Lottery money is spent while supporting community initiatives all over the UK.

Who can apply? The following types of organisations can apply:

Voluntary or community organisations.

  • Registered charities.
  • Constituted group or clubs.
  • Not-for-profit companies or Community Interest Companies (CICs).
  • Schools (as long as your project benefits and involves the wider local communities around the school).
  • Statutory bodies (including town, parish and community council).

Applicants should have a strong local presence and track record of delivering services in their area.

Organisations should also consider whether they are comfortable running a public campaign which will require several months of commitment and bring significant publicity to the project.

The funders are keen to support smaller organisations with an annual turnover of less than £500,000.

Grant amount:

  • 57 winners will receive grants of up to £70,000.
  • Up to 38 runners-up will also receive grants of up to £10,000.

Application process: Full guidelines and an online application form can be found on the National Lottery Community Fund website.

Deadline: The first stage applications is 12 noon on 7 October 2022 (or when a sufficient number of applications have been received).
