Hub Life: Working Together – Oldham District Hubs

Since the initial coronavirus lockdown measures were introduced in March, the Action Together Oldham teams have been working within the Oldham District Hubs. The Hubs are made up of multi-agency partner organisations, working together to share knowledge and find solutions and offer effective support to issues arising within their districts. Set up in response to the first lockdown, the hubs continue to provide a local offer for residents who contact the Oldham Council helpline on 0161 770 7007.

The Hubs are located as follows, and each Hub Team is connected to a member of the Action Together Oldham team…

Central Team – Coldhurst, St Marys and Alexandra – Jane Glaysher-White

North Team – Royton, Shaw and Crompton – Adele Thomson

East Team – Saddleworth, St James and Waterhead – Martin Morris

South Team – Failsworth, Hollinwood and Medlock Vale – Nayan Joshi

West Team – Chadderton and Werneth – Ruth Madden

The Hubs have brought together a number of partners such as Action Together, Local Authority District Teams, Housing Providers, Early Help, Oldham Foodbank, Social Prescribing Teams and Health and Social Care providers. Many of these organisations have been working in partnership previously, but the Hubs have helped teams to work closer and streamline responses to people in need.

The Action Together team reported that although a challenging time for all, a highlight of working within the Hubs has been leaning more about the different services involved and being able to come together as partners to offer focussed solutions to the issues being presented.

As Government Guidance and Local Authority approaches have developed to respond to the virus in our communities, the District Hub teams have been involved in more practical support across the Borough. Supporting Oldham Council’s Doorstop Testing and Engagement schemes, going out across the Boroughs to check in with households providing vital contact, referring people to support and guidance as needed, and offering on the spot testing to help Oldham curb the spread of the virus. The Hubs are continuing to work together to respond directly to issues occurring in the community and respond directly to matters faced by residents. As we move into the Winter Months Action Together are pulling together key information across Oldham, Rochdale and Tameside on our Winter Support page so you can give help or get help this winter.
