The ‘Bleep’ volunteering programme is a BRAND NEW initiative enabling volunteers to make an even BIGGER impact in specific areas when it’s needed most! The new role means hospital staff can ‘bleep’ volunteers to assist in real time, enabling you to provide an effective and efficient service, resulting in positive outcomes for both patients and staff.

Tasks the volunteer will be required to do:

The main focus of this role is assisting the nursing and pharmacy teams in the collection and delivery of medication in a timely manner so that patients can be discharged home as soon as possible. This service has been proven to improve patient flow.

Other adhoc requests may include collecting wheelchairs to support visitors coming into hospital, to supporting a ward at mealtimes and handing out meals to patients.

Skill and Qualifications Required:

You must be aged over 16 and have left school.
We only offer LONG TERM placements of 6-12 months or more. This is due to the cost of recruiting a volunteer and the mandatory recruitment checks and training both you and us need to undertake beforehand. We do not take on to cover school holidays.
You need to be able to commit to a minimum of 1 session a week (maximum of 3) on a regular basis. A session is classed as 4/5 hours.
Volunteering is NOT the same as work experience (see above).
Work experience cannot be obtained via Voluntary Services.
