Volunteer Mentor

Rochdale Borough Residents Apply here- http://www.r-c-t.co.uk/volunteer-mentor-training.html We recruit and train volunteer mentors from the local community to support young people who are experiencing issues such as anxiety, low self-esteem, domestic abuse, youth offending and bullying. They focus on supporting the young person to develop coping strategies and to help them to deal with the issues. We are always looking for new Mentors. As a Mentor you will have the opportunity to help improve a young person’s well being, confidence and to develop their skills by working with them on a 1-2-1 basis a couple of hours a week. Full training and support is offered throughout your time Mentoring with us. Mentors offer advice and guidance to these young people to positively influence their lives and help them to take control and change their future. These young people can be suffering from isolation, loneliness, bullying, issues related to poverty, abuse and many more traumatising experiences. By using a person centred approach, our mentors are able to work effectively with these young people and achieve encouraging results. These young people can display challenging behaviours but full training is provided and the mentor coordinator is available when support and advice is needed. Too many young people are growing up without a positive role model in their lives and this is where we believe we can make the most impact to encourage change by helping them engage in new activities or relationships. In a world where we are teaching children and young people that there are no limits to what they can be, we believe society has a role to play in guiding and engaging with these young people in order that they are able to achieve their maximum potential.

About the host organisation

Hosted by: Rochdale Connections Trust
Organisation Profile: Rochdale Connections Trust is a community based Charity, working in Rochdale, Heywood and Middleton. Over the last 25 years our mission has been to help vulnerable young people and families from the Rochdale Borough who are in greatest need. During this time we have provided a package of support to thousands of young people, often in crisis, through access to our mentoring programme. More information on our programmes can be found on our brand new website: www.r-c-t.co.uk With a range of additional programmes for families we have been instrumental in keeping families together and helping to move them forward. We are reliant on the generosity of local people who support us by making a donation that allows this vital work to continue across Rochdale. We could really use your help in the form of a donation now. It really does make a difference in helping those families and young people to turn their lives around. All donations, no matter what size, make a real and lasting difference to the work that we undertake. Do something amazing and help a local Charity to continue their much needed work today.
