About the host organisation

Hosted by: Greenspace
Organisation Profile: Volunteers have played a major role within Tameside’s Greenspace since 1976 and two of the original volunteers are still active within the service. As more and more people have spare time available the Tameside Greenspace has encouraged new volunteers to ‘have a go’ on the conservation days. Tameside Greenspace conservation days are a practical way to help conserve the wildlife and traditional landscape of Tameside. They are held on a range of sites around the borough and start at 10am, finishing by 3pm. Tasks could include anything from cutting back vegetation and raking grassland to pond clearing and waymarking. All tasks however have one thing in common; they will benefit your local countryside for people and wildlife. It is hoped the conservation days will help to encourage people to take a more active role in helping to conserve their local countryside and also highlight how important our countryside is for wildlife and how much bio-diversity there is within Tameside’s green spaces . All events are free and open to everyone. No experience is needed, just a willingness to join in and learn new skills. We will provide you with any equipment you need and instruction on how to use any tools. Please wear suitable clothes and sturdy footwear and for full day tasks, bring a packed lunch. You can turn up to any event, but please book so we know how many people to expect.
