Wellbeing volunteer (activities and awareness)

Depaul UK delivers a wide range of support and housing services for young people and adults at risk of homelessness. We specialise in the provision of services that; prevent homelessness, increase the resilience of those we work with and energise opportunities for employment, education, training and volunteering in the communities we work within. Our organisation reaches from Newcastle to London, Greater Manchester to Sheffield and Kent. Project description: Many of the young people Depaul supports are facing mental health and emotional challenges in their lives. Around 60% of the young people we work with have a recognised mental health need. Depaul UK believes that the mental health and wellbeing of our clients, volunteers and staff is fundamental to the success and sustainability of our work. Supporting people to achieve positive mental health outcomes is very much part of our overall mission. Depaul’s refreshed and reviewed plans prioritise the importance of both mental health crisis response and prevention. We are focussed on ensuring that Depaul UK services provide a timely response during a mental health crisis whilst maintaining a creative focus on preventative and wellbeing development work.

Tasks the volunteer will be required to do:

Aim of the volunteer role:
Your role will be to provide wellbeing activities to Depaul staff to increase their wellbeing regularly and therefore prevent burnout. The activities will take place in our room based in St Peter’s House, Oxford Rd but also at the various projects in the region (Rochdale, Oldham, Didsbury, Burnage). You can specify your preference for the areas.
Main Tasks:
a) To deliver wellbeing activities to the staff depending on your skillset- ie mindfulness, art, creative writing, dance, meditation
b) To contribute ideas and opinions in the creation of activities
c) To report back to the Mental Health & Wellbeing Manager regarding numbers of attendees & feedback from staff
d) Work with the MH&WBM to evaluate the activities and change as appropriate
e) To attend training and support sessions where appropriate.

Skill and Qualifications Required:

Necessary skills, attitudes and knowledge:
Skilled in area of wellbeing activity you wish to deliver (see above for examples), good communicator, reliable, open to feedback, able to share ideas, confident in delivering to a group.
