The Oldham Community Lottery is fantastic fundraising channel, which voluntary and community organisations based in Oldham have been taking advantage of through registering as a 'Good Cause', allowing supporters to give regularly and with ease!
Supporters who sign up to play the Oldham Community Lottery are given the opportunity to select which registered Good Causes they would like to support, and these organisations receive proceeds from the ticket sales. Players are also given the chance to win incredible prizes each week!
Since launching in July 2023, the Oldham Community Lottery has had 51 organisations register as Good Causes, one of which being Friends of Royton Linear Park.
The Friends of Royton Linear Park are a very active volunteer group within Linear Park, helping to preserve the wildlife of the area, encourage community enjoyment and carry out essential maintenance in the park.
Since joining the Oldham Community Lottery in July 2023, Friends of Royton Linear Park have raised £193! (Figure dated January 2024)
We caught up with Shirley, to share their experience of the Oldham Community Lottery and how the funds have been used to support them.
"Adele from Action Together came to one of our committee meetings and told us about the Oldham Community Lottery. Although we’d previously held a couple of events and applied for funding to a number of organisations , we have no ‘regular’ income. The Oldham Community Lottery also gives our members a means of supporting us if they can’t volunteer their time to our projects. And, of course, they might just buy a winning ticket!
Thanks to the Oldham Community Lottery, we have been able to purchase tools - spades, hoes, trowels etc for our Gardening Group."
