In response to the crisis in Ukraine, 10GM and partners are working together to put in place welcome and support for people arriving in Greater Manchester, working alongside local authorities and those who are offering to accommodate people arriving from Ukraine.

Would you like to get involved in a local group for members of the LGBTQ+ community who have a disability in Tameside?

The aim would be to provide a welcoming space where people can get support and socialise with those in similar situation.

Dying Matters Awareness Week takes place from Monday 2 -  Friday 6 May. Communities across the country come together to talk about death, dying and grief.

Each neighbourhood in Tameside & Glossop are holding a Dying Matters Drop-in event, aimed at getting people taking about death and dying. There will be lots of different services and groups available to talk to people at these events, from a variety of backgrounds, ranging from nurses to funeral directors, chaplains to solicitors, peer support and volunteers.

The Tameside Food Network was set up during the first year of the pandemic to bring together any Voluntary, Community, Faith organisations and Social Enterprises who were providing food support to people in Tameside. We have decided to continue to meet 4 times a year so we can keep updated with each others services, network, focus on any particular issues or trends arising and share intelligence.

Tameside & Glossop Strategic Commission are hosting an online session to update on the transition from CCGs to Integrated Care Partnerships. This is being held so that local residents and professionals alike are given the opportunity to ask questions, learn more about the changes, and give their feedback.

When: Thursday 19 May 2pm - 3pm.

Applications are now open for Action for Conservation's free Summer Camps.

Action for Conservation are trying to reach as many young people as possible who might be interested in this adventure of a lifetime. They are looking for young people, aged 12-16, who are based in England and Wales, to join them on their residential Summer Camps in three of the UK's most amazing national parks this July and August 2022.

From April 2022, Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership has commissioned Qwell, delivered by Kooth, for adults aged 26+ across all 10 localities of Greater Manchester.

This free session is for professionals who work with young people and adults who want to know more about Kooth and Qwell as part of the digital mental health offer for Greater Manchester.

We are very pleased to be getting back together in person for the first time in over two years. We've managed to get a lot done in two years of working online, including supporting the successful implementation of the 'Everyone In' emergency accommodation, how we could Build Back Better as a City Region and the first Homelessness Prevention Strategy & Action Plan for Greater Manchester.

We hope you can attend to join others in Greater Manchester working to end homelessness.

These informal online meetings will help us keep in touch and catch up with one another. They are a space to chat and to discuss any organisational updates you may have, how you are involving volunteers and staying connected to them.

Miles of Smiles a community transport scheme based in Tameside. Trish explains the impact of the scheme and that we are looking to recruit more volunteer drivers so that we are able to help more people.

As part of the Town of Culture a new community grant fund has been developed to support activities and events being created for Stalybridge by community groups and individuals.

• Slow Food – events and activities linked to for instance community orchards,doorstep growing, allotments, recipes, food waste
• Slow Making – events and activities linked to knitting, embroidery and other crafts
• Slow Art – events and activities linked to storytelling, artist led creations,music, exhibitions, conversations, performance, dance, writing and literature
• Slow down – events and activities linked to the town’s heritage, it’s surrounding landscape and town centre such as talks, trails, walking and cycling.

Amount: £500.

Deadline: October (please note the fund may close earlier if the funds are exhausted sooner).

Tameside Community Recovery Fund is a Participatory Budgeting event where local communities can have a say and vote for their favourite community project.

We have looked at lots of local information from across Tameside such as local community events, local planning structures, and plans developed with local people. From this information we were able to see what local people felt was important to them. We’ve used these themes as the basis for these local grants.

This current round is for groups who are based in or operate from West Tameside (Denton, Audenshaw and Droylsden).

Amount: Up to £2,000.

Action Together are offering Part 2 of the Introduction to Trustee Roles and Responsibilities training session to those who are thinking of becoming a Trustee, or are a Trustee who would like to understand more about what their role entails and how to carry it out to the best of their ability.

When: Wednesday 4 May 5pm - 7.30pm

Please note participants attending this course should have completed Part 1 which was held on Wednesday 27 April.

Action Together are offering Part 1 of the Introduction to Bid Writing training session to groups who are thinking of applying for funding or would like a refresher on some of the key fundamentals in writing funding applications for small grants.

When: Tuesday 10 May 10am - 12.30pm.

Please note that this is a two-part training course - participants must attend both sessions to complete the course and receive a certificate of completion. Part 2 will be held on Tuesday 17 May 22 at 10am - 12.30pm and can be accessed here.
