About the host organisation
Hosted by: SALFORD REFUGEES LINKOrganisation Profile:Salford Refugees Link was set-up as an informal organization
by a group of African refugees to serve refugees and asylum seekers from African origin. Since its registration on 21 Nov 2005, the charity has grown up and today serves people from more than seventeen African nationalities. 80% of charity leaders and volunteers are themselves former refugees. Most of them were also victims of wars and/ or had experienced first-hand abuses in their homelands. Using their own experiences, they help newly come refugees to smoothly slot and insert in Britain.
Battling with integration and acceptance issues, asylum seekers and refuges are often faced with various challenges such as language barriers, unemployment and poverty, poor health conditions, isolation and loneliness. Financial pressures often adding to all that is the straw that broke the back of the camel, this leads to family dislocation, frustration and despair with detrimental consequences on both physical and mental health, resulting in increased mental health disorder cases...
Overall, due to the condition they find themselves in, our users fall in selected category of highly vulnerable people. That’s what SARELI has always been trying to address throughout its work.
Our aims are: promotion of health and wellbeing
