Gateway Support Assistant
No particular qualifications needed. Just an ability to share interests and hobbies with others. Need patience and good listening skills. Would you like to share your skills and talents or develop new ones alongside adults with a learning disability? Wednesdays 7.30-9.30pm. Oldham Gateway Club is a recreational club for people with learning disabilities who live in and around the Oldham area. We cater for people from age 16 to 76. The club was started almost 45 years ago. We meet every Wednesday evening at the All Nation Church, Egerton Street, Oldham from 7 - 9.30pm. We curently have 90 members and 14 volunteer helpers who meet each week to participate in a variety of activities. These range from 10 Bowls, Pool, Bingo, Art and Craft, Music Project. Wii games, New Age Kurling, Sport activities. For many of our members Wednesday is the only evening they get to go out without parents or members of their family. It is also the only respite some families have from caring for sons or daughters.
