Digital Champion

To guide customers through basic IT courses hosted on the Learn My Way website and assist customers with their basic IT enquiries and support their use of digital devices.

Tasks the volunteer will be required to do:

1. Running LearnMyWay classes in a local library
2. Providing general IT assistance to customers.
3. Promoting membership of Oldham Library and Information Service.
4. Encouraging reading and the use of other facilities within their local library.
5. Training complete beginners to help them get started with computers, including keyboard and mouse skills, e-mail and the Internet.
6. Promoting lifelong learning and signpost to further programs available.

Skill and Qualifications Required:

1. Available for two hours a week to run LearnMyWay classes.
2. LearnMyWay course duration – 6 weeks.
3. Have time to organize classes beforehand each week. Including organizing, printing resources and keeping records of students’ progress.
4. Happy to work independently.
5. Confident with computers. You don’t have to be an expert; classes start with mouse basics and finish with the creation of an email. General IT queries may be more challenging.
6. Have the patience, enthusiasm and interpersonal skills to help, instruct and communicate with customers each week.
