About the host organisation

Hosted by: Tameside Arts Ltd
Organisation Profile: Tameside Arts Ltd is a not for profit arts organization formed in 2005, providing a wide range of creative opportunities including weekly activities, specialised projects and performances. We have a multi-disciplined staff team, that are qualified in a range of specialisms, arts and music. Activity sessions we run are arts and crafts; visual arts; street dance; therapeutic drama; African drumming; violin sessions; U.V. sensory performances; chatter and natter; food hygiene and preparation; signing and signing; games; and relaxation. We have an education and development program to support our members to be as autonomous as possible and progress towards gaining skills and qualifications. Our activities are centred around conducting frequent reviews and listening to the feedback given by our members. We are always open to new ideas and suggestions that may be meaningful to our members.

Most of our work is suitable for everybody, however some events are delivered by and intended for people (of all ages) with a wide range of support needs. Our main focus are our activity groups, providing opportunities for everyone to take part in, lead and experience the arts in an equal, non-judgmental and accessible way. Hence our motto “Arts for All”. A volunteer placement may be suitable for persons that wish to gain experience for a career in social care, education or other person-centred job roles.

We have particular expertise in supporting people with Learning Disabilities, Physical Disabilities, people with Mental Health issues, Profound and Multiple Disabilities, and people with Autism and Asperger’s. We are a welcoming and inclusive group, with a key focus of providing “Arts For All” within Tameside and the surrounding areas. We offer training opportunities and provide references for our volunteers.
