Volunteer Responders

This is an exciting opportunity for volunteers to get involved in multiple areas across the hospital site. Volunteers will respond to direct calls for assistance for a number of key areas around the Hospital Trust. Volunteers will be trained to respond to requests in real time situations and have the fluidity to move around the Trust according to the daily patient requirements.

Tasks the volunteer will be required to do:

Supporting Accident and Emergency during high pressure times
Picking up medication from the Hospital Pharmacy
Helping a patient who may be at End of Life Care or supporting the family/carer should they need help
Visiting a patient on a ward who is confused or lonely
Helping a family member or carer who may be distressed
Helping escort a patient to a test or examination

Skill and Qualifications Required:

Friendly and positive
Good Communication skills
Ability to work in a team
Compliant with requests from staff
Able to uphold the values and behaviours of Tameside Hospital
Ability to actively listen
To be respectful and understanding of different patient's cultures , ethnic and minority backgrounds
Creative and spontaneous to patient needs
Objective and non-judgemental
Comply with confidentiality and disclosure
You will need to be a team player and prepared to support as needed
You will need to be committed to the role and attend your regular shift
Adaptable
Able to move around the Hospital Trust areas
Confident
Able to work alone but also take instruction from the team and your colleagues
Flexible
Willing to do all of the relevant training
