Crisis Intervention Volunteer

The Crisis Intervention volunteer will provide practical advice to clients who need urgent or immediate help

Tasks the volunteer will be required to do:

Interview clients in order to allow clients to explain their problems and empower them to set their own priorities.
 Research and explore options and implications so that clients can make informed decisions
 Act for the client where necessary by calculating, negotiating, drafting or writing letters and telephoning
 Maintain case records for the purpose of continuity of casework, information retrieval, statistical monitoring and report preparation

Skill and Qualifications Required:

Ability to interview clients using sensitive listening and questioning skills to get to the root of issues and empower clients, whilst maintaining structure and control of meetings.
 Effective oral and written communication skills
 Ability to work with a wide variety of people and as part of a team.
 Ability to use IT in the provision of advice, record keeping and document production
 Ability to research, analyse and interpret complex information
 Ability to give and receive feedback objectively and sensitively and a willingness to challenge constructively
