Volunteer Receptionist

To provide admin/ clerical office support to Gabriel Court. The role will help to add capacity to the team and increase what the service wants to achieve.

Tasks the volunteer will be required to do:

Volunteers will be supporting the service to:
• Open reception via the intercom service
• To meet and greet visitors and to assist in general office tasks
• Answering and transferring phone calls
• Take calls and messages
• Some handling of a small amounts of petty cash
• Word processing and using a variety of PC packages
• Incoming and outgoing email
• Operating a variety of office equipment (eg. photocopier, laminator, etc.)
• Reporting any repairs that need to be carried out
• Following Barnardo’s policies and procedures throughout your role (to include Safeguarding, Data Protection, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and Health and Safety)
• To respect and adhere to all aspects of confidentiality associated with the role in accordance with Barnardo’s confidentiality and GDPR (data protection) policies
• To understand, establish and maintain appropriate boundaries associated with the role
• Report any concerns to the appointed line manager or volunteer coordinator/ at the most appropriate point in time, in accordance with Barnardo’s safeguarding and whistleblowing policies
• Undertake volunteer induction training and partake in any identified additional training or core meetings
• Respect Barnardo’s equality and diversity values and policies by working in a non-discriminatory manner
• Attend meetings, supervisions and peer to peer support groups with the volunteer coordinator/appointed line manager where appropriate
The receptionist volunteer role is flexible and tailored to the volunteer. Volunteers will undertake a selection of 2 or 3 elements from the above list as a minimum

Skill and Qualifications Required:

An understanding of administration
An understanding of basic IT, word excel e-mails
Good communication skills
Basic literacy and numeracy skills
Able to maintain appropriate boundaries and confidentiality
