Domestic Incident Volunteer Role – VISITS- TAMESIDE

A STRIVE Domestic Incident Volunteer is volunteering on low level domestic incident alongside the GMP. It is not only couples, but you would be volunteering with families within the immediate unit.

Tasks the volunteer will be required to do:

Volunteering for TLC; Talk Listen Change you would be attending homes looking at what area clients need help. Such as; employment, confidence, solicitors, community centres, befriending and debt advice centres etc… would then signpost clients onto the agencies that would be of benefit to them. You could be working with one family unit from one visit and up to possibly three visits depending on how much early intervention they need. However, I must stress we are not looking to create dependencies we are looking to get people to help themselves.

The idea behind the project is that if we can help people straight away from the first call out to the police, this will reduce further call outs in the future.

Skill and Qualifications Required:

You must be 21+ to apply, driving licence and access to a car is preferable but not essential. Full training on successful interview and references is provided. After training volunteers commit to a minimum of 2 ½ hours per week.
