Tameside Council and Tameside & Glossop CCG (Tameside & Glossop Strategic Commission) has launched a Budget Conversation inviting local people to give their views on its budget priorities for 2019/20 and beyond. Together, the Strategic Commission is responsible for a huge range of services, from schools to GP surgeries, street lights to looking after those in need. Overall the total amount of money spent annually is £900 million.

In recent years, this figure has decreased significantly due to cuts from central government and with each budget, it is tasked with coming up with innovative ways to deliver its services and make savings.

The Budget Conversation aims to explain where the money spent comes from and how it is spent. It is inviting people’s thoughts on two key issues:

  • What should be the spending priorities for 2019/20 and future years and;
  • Ideas or suggestions as to how it might deliver services more efficiently, save money or raise revenue.

You can participate in the Budget Conversation by visiting the dedicated webpage and completing the online survey here. Alternatively comments can be e-mailed to bigconversation@tameside.gov.uk.

The conversation will run until Tuesday 29 January 2019 and during this time it will be promoting the consultation widely via social media, through its networks with partners and stakeholders and engaging with local groups.
