In preparation for the forthcoming job opportunities at Rochdale Riverside – the new Retail & Leisure venue in central Rochdale, Employment Links Partnership (ELP), in conjunction with The Growth Company, through the delivery of the Skills Support for Employment (SSE) programme, are inviting referrals to a “Routeway to Retail” programme, which will commence delivery very soon.

Several retailers are commencing their recruitment in January 2020, with stores anticipated to open to the public in March/April 2020, therefore to ensure that Borough residents have up to date relevant skills for the job vacancies that will be available, the Routeway to Retail programme will deliver a combination of vocational accredited qualifications and several workshops designed to develop and enhance skills and work related activities, to improve and increase the chance of our residents securing the opportunities available.

The Routeway to Retail details are:

  • Mon 25 Nov - Fri 29 Nov - 9:30am – 2:30pm retail skills and work related activity workshops.
  • Thurs 28 Nov – 9.30am-2.30pm – Award in Health & safety in the Workplace
  • Monday 2 Dec – Friday 13 Dec, daily (Monday - Friday 9.30am-2.30pm) – Level 1 Certificate in Retail Knowledge and Level 1 Certificate in an Introduction to Facilities Management

All delivery will be at ELP, 99-101 Drake Street, Rochdale, OL16 1PZ.

Travel expenses will be provided, where required and additional support and advice for appropriate work clothing is available. The workshops and accredited courses have all been designed with the knowledge of the types of job roles the retailers have indicated they will be recruiting for, and the skills that they will be looking for.
