Quality in Action Award

The Quality in Action Award is the locally recognised quality assurance framework for VCFSE groups and organisations working across Oldham, Rochdale and Tameside.

The award offers all VCFSE groups and organisations, an independent local seal of approval, which publicly demonstrates your commitment to quality assurance and continuous improvement. Obtaining recognition through independent assessment that your organisation is fit for purpose and has the right things in place, you will be able to demonstrate to local commissioners, funders, beneficiaries and other stakeholders that you are delivering quality activities and services.

By working through the Quality in Action Award you will work alongside an Action Together development officer, who will help you to work through the sections and give you the practical support and information to enable you to develop your policies, procedures and ways of working in the following key areas;

  • Organisational Governance – How you run your group, what your aims are and how you make decisions
  • Safeguarding – How you ensure that you are ensuring the safety of children and young people and vulnerable adults
  • Safer recruitment and staffing – How you recruit, train and supervise your staff and volunteers
  • Health and Safety – How you make sure your activities are safe and that you have things in place in case things go wrong
  • Equal Opportunities – How you make sure that you inclusive and welcoming
  • Promotion and Partnerships – How you work with others and involve your beneficiaries in your decision making
  • Finance – How you look after your money and funding

Volunteering in Action Award

The Volunteering in Action Award is a certificate awarded to Volunteer Involving Organisations (VIO’s) across the boroughs of Oldham, Rochdale and Tameside to show that they adhere to best practice guidelines in volunteer management. The award provides a framework for those who want to improve how they work with volunteers and offer a positive experience for all.

The Volunteering in Action Award is reviewed annually and sits within the Quality in Action Award that supports organisations to meet safeguarding standards.

Receiving the Volunteering in Action Quality Award will show that your organisation values volunteers and demonstrates your ability to provide a welcoming and supportive environment for people to spend their time unpaid.
