Nationwide Building Society Community Grants programme

The Nationwide Building Society Community Grants programme is offering grants of between £10,000 and £50,000 to support local housing projects that help the most vulnerable by preventing people from losing their homes, helping people in to a home and supporting people to thrive within the home environment.

This round is open to groups in Wales, West of England, North West, North Midlands and the North East of England.

Sport England Launches Workforce Diversity Great Ideas Fund

The new £1 million fund is being made available to diversify coaches and volunteers in the sport and physical activity sector, with a focus on women and BAME communities.

The idea behind the fund ‘is to help ensure people working in sport and physical activity are skilled, motivated, valued, equipped for their role, are enjoying a positive experience and is representative of [a] diverse nation’.

Home Office’s Youth Endowment Fund Accepting Applications

The first round of the new Youth Endowment Fund is open for applications for programmes and community partnerships in England and Wales to prevent youth crime and violence.

The Youth Endowment Fund (YEF) has been launched as part of the Government’s Serious Violence Strategy and is being run by the charity Impetus, working in partnership with the Early Intervention Foundation and Social Investment Business.

Inter Faith Youth Trust Accepting Applications to 2019 Grants Programme

The Inter Faith Youth Trust offers grants each year to organisations throughout the UK for projects taking place during the annual Inter Faith week.

This year, the maximum grant has been raised from £500 to £800. The funding is intended for proposals for inter faith activities by children and young people of Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Sikh and other faiths and those of no formal faith in understanding and co-operation. The age range for young people is 11-25 years.

Projects should take place during Inter Faith Week 2019 (10 – 17 November).

£4.9 million programme to tackle unemployment launched

The funds have been granted by the government’s Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) in partnership with Greater Manchester Local Enterprise Partnership to the Worker’s Educational Association (WEA), an adult education charity which provides training and learning opportunities for people at risk of exclusion.

Over the next two years, the charity will help thousands of people who face additional barriers in the workplace, such as lone parents, improve their employability and gain permanent employment.

Positive Steps Early Help Grant

Aims/priorities: The purpose of the Early Help offer is to improve families’ physical, social, and emotional well-being, so that they do not need ongoing support from crisis and specialist services.

This means:

• Working with individuals and families who need some help around physical and mental health, wellbeing, or other social concerns

• Working with families at an early enough point to stop them from getting to crisis point where they need input from specialist and crisis services.
