Good News from Oldham Partnerships

Action Together, along with staff from Oldham Council and other partners, are working together to focus on the issues that communities across Oldham are experiencing as a direct result of the coronavirus pandemic. Recently the West Hub Team, which covers Chadderton and Werneth, have welcomed some good news from the efforts of their partnership working.

The West Hub team received a referral from an Oldham resident in need of emergency food and furniture support. Working in partnership with organisations across the Borough the Team were able to arrange vital support for the individual. Including a seven day food parcel and items such as cutlery, pots and pans, from the Oldham Foodbank. They were also able to support the client to access Local Welfare Provision support to provide a bed, fridge and cooker.

However, with no other furniture and no means of entertainment or of contacting others, the person was experiencing social isolation. A spot purchase of a computer tablet was made, by Action Together, in order to help them seek employment, promote independence and reconnect with their community.

Working with other partners such as the Royal British Legion and Greater Manchester Armed Forces Covenant, the team sourced further support including a Council Tax reduction and additional furniture and soft furnishings.

The most recent update on the client is that they have been offered a new job! We'd like to share our congratulations and wish them all the best in their new role.

Well done to all partners involved, a great example of partnerships working well together.
